WE’VE had a brilliant response to the return of the Dunfermline Press / Central Fife Times Community Champion Awards and there’s still time for more entries.

It’s exciting to have the event back in the calendar and a real privilege to celebrate all our local heroes who go above and beyond to lift spirits and make our lives a little brighter.

There have been dozens of entries so far but we would welcome more nominations and there’s only a few weeks left for you to tell us about your champion and put their name forward.

We want to read about our unsung heroes from sport, business, charity, music, schools and everyday life, give them their moment in the limelight and the richly deserved plaudits for their achievements at a glitzy celebration night in the Glen Pavilion.

A host of generous sponsors are backing the Community Champion Awards, with Stagecoach coming on board with Fife Council, TechnipFMC and Bandrum Nursing Home, and there are 11 categories.

They are: Entrepreneurial Award; Sporting Champion of the Year; Champion Teacher of the Year; Young Enterprise Champion; Community Champion of the Year; Youth Community Champion; Heart of Gold; Little Champion of the Year; Charity Champion of the Year; Live Music Award; and, new for 2023, the Health and Care Award.

Ewan Reed, managing director at TechnipFMC in Dunfermline, said: “The Dunfermline Press Community Champion Awards are back this year and we’re pleased to sponsor the Young Enterprise Champion category.

You can be involved and champion our local heroes by nominating someone you know who goes above and beyond for our community. When you recognise individuals for making a positive impact on the lives of others every day, you are acknowledging their hard work and inspiring more people to make their own contribution.”

The pandemic meant we had to mothball this fantastic showcase of our area and its people, but we can’t wait to welcome all our local heroes back – in person – to Dunfermline’s Glen Pavilion on Thursday June 15 to thank and reward them for all they do.

The Press is passionate about Dunfermline and the West Fife area, and our Community Champion Awards are filled with good news stories that will inspire and make you feel proud to live and work here.

If you know someone you believe should be recognised at our Community Champion Awards night please get in touch. Go to our website newsquestscotlandevents.com/events/dunfermlinecommchamp to nominate your community champions or give us a call for more information on 07500 998 357.

The closing date for nominations is Thursday, May 4.
