Entry deadline for Herald Scottish Family Business Awards extended

THE entry deadline for this year’s Herald Scottish Family Business Awards in association with Business Gateway has been extended as we canvass the country to celebrate the diverse, dynamic and innovative family business sector, and the contribution which these firms make to the communities in which they operate and to the wider economy.

We are celebrating the twelfth year of the awards and we are looking to recognise not only the achievements of businesses but also of those individuals working hard to make their family business a success.

The awards, supported by Burness Paull, Clydesdale Bank, Campbell Dallas, Craig Corporate, TL Dallas, STAND, Supplier Development Programme and Strathclyde Business School, take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow, with entries now open until Thursday, October 24, 2019.

Hugh Lightbody, who is Chief Officer, Business Gateway National Unit, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the work of your family business and show us how you’ve been making your mark in your chosen field. Family businesses play a key role in driving sustainable economic growth for Scotland and are massive contributors to the wealth of the country. We want to recognise your contribution and therefore encourage you to enter this year’s Herald Scottish Family Business Awards.”

Fraser Campbell, Partner & Head of Family Business at Campbell Dallas, said: “Businesses should enter to celebrate their achievements building a leading family business and their continued contribution the Scottish economy.”

Bernard Dunn, of TL Dallas, said: “If you feel your company has excelled in the provision of customer service there
is still time to enter and get the recognition you and your team deserve.”

Grant Stevenson, Partner, Burness Paull, said: “The Herald Family Business Awards are a great platform for family businesses to tell their stories. Scotland has many fantastic family businesses operating on a global stage, so I would encourage them to share some of their successes and enter the International Growth Category.”

Fraser Campbell, Partner & Head of Family Business at Campbell Dallas, said: “The Herald’s Scottish Family Business Awards recognise the successes of family businesses across Scotland. Businesses should enter to celebrate their achievements building a leading family business and their continued contribution the Scottish economy.”

Deyrick Smith, Commercial Area Manager, West of Scotland at Clydesdale Bank, said: “It is our pleasure to once again sponsor The Herald Scottish Family Business Awards, recognising the family owned SMEs which are the backbone of our economy. These awards provide not only a valuable opportunity to celebrate their successes but also help shine a light on the people whose hard work lies at the very heart of our communities right across Scotland.”

John Anderson, Strathclyde Business School, said: “The Herald Scottish Family Business Awards Dinner is the highlight of the year for Scotland’s real wealth creators. With the top 100 family businesses in Scotland generating £20 billion in annual revenues and supporting over 110,000 jobs, the awards provide a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best of Scotland’s family businesses and celebrate the impact of this important, and often neglected, part of the Scottish economy.”

Maggie Croft, Managing Director at Stand, said: “With the environment and green issues dominating the headlines at the moment, it’s really important for all businesses to take sustainability very seriously. A company’s green credentials are now an integral part of how any company conducts its day to day business and how it is ultimately perceived by customers and staff alike, so we would encourage all family owned businesses to shout about what they are doing in that area as part of this year’s Family Business Awards.”
