Rob Rinder, the best selling author and television star, will be the host as the stars of the nation’s legal sector gather for The Herald Law Awards of Scotland 2024 in Glasgow next week.
Excitement is building around the outcome of The Herald Law Awards of Scotland 2024, which will take place on Friday, 15 November in The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.
With less than two weeks left to go until the event, speculation is growing around who will be the winners of the most prestigious awards dedicated to the Scottish legal profession.
To mark the 20th anniversary of the awards, the host this year will be barrister turned broadcaster and Sunday Times No. 1 bestselling author, Rob Rinder. Called to the bar in 2001, Rob went on to specialise in cases involving international fraud, money laundering and other forms of financial crime, while working in media to make law more accessible. He started his broadcast career with Judge Rinder for ITV before going on to host his own BBC 5Live series Raising the Bar.
The evening itself will be a glittering celebration of the best people and practices within the sector and has involved a lengthy judging process by a distinguished panel of judges, whose numbers have included Colin Anderson of LEAD Scotland, Alex Prentice KC and Patricia Thom of the The Law Society of Scotland.
Amongst the awards that will be handed out on the night will be High Street Firm of the Year, Criminal Law Firm of the Year and Employment and Pensions Team of the Year.
Individual awards will include Solicitor of the Year sponsored by The Law Society of Scotland, and an Up and Coming Award, which will be presented to someone showing outstanding promise.
There are awards too for Corporate Social Responsibility and Pro Bono activities, as well as two Law Firm of the Year titles, both sponsored by IDEX Consulting, one for independent Scottish companies and the other for UK-wide firms with a Scotland focus.
Last month, finalists were announced in all categories with the exception of both the Outstanding Contribution Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award, which will both be announced on the night.
Ronnie Murison, Director of Sheriff Officer Services at Stirling Park, who are sponsors of both the Litigation Team of the Year and Debt Recovery Team of the Year awards, said “We are looking forward to this year’s event, which has a very special host in Rob Rinder. It should be a great night, and it will recognise the individuals and legal firms that have been selected as best in class in their categories by the judges”.
The event promises to be an evening of celebration and a few tickets are still available. For details of these visit https://newsquestscotlandevents.com/events/lawawards/
