The Herald and Sunday Herald’s annual budget briefing looks set for another good attendance on 19 March as experts prepare to help people understand the implications of The Budget.

A panel chaired by political commentator Iain Macwhirter will provide a summary of the main topics included in the Chancellor’s Budget speech the preceding day and open up discussion to delegates. The Budget will be the last delivered by George Osborne before the General Election. The event is sponsored by Campbell Dallas chartered accountants, Burness Paull law firm, Craig Corporate business advisers, VWM Wealth financial strategists, Orbit Communications, Glasgow University and 200 SVS.

Ken Welsh, managing director of VWM Wealth, said: “We are looking forward to engaging with the local business community and discussing the growth opportunities that lie ahead from a budgetary perspective in 2015. Influential issues include the impending general election, the transfer of fiscal powers from Westminster to Edinburgh, the private/ public sector debate, austerity, and the growth of entrepreneurialism. With money being tight it will be interesting to see who are the winners and who are the losers and will this budget help close the inequality gap or widen it.”

This free event will begin at 7.45am on Thursday, March 19. It will be held at 200 SVS, 200 St Vincent Street, Glasgow.
