The Awards Ceremony

The Greenock Telegraph Community Champion Awards 2024 will take place on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Greenock Town Hall. Tickets to attend the awards will be available soon.

The evening includes a sparkling drinks reception, three-course meal, entertainment from local talent and the awards presentation.

It is quick and easy to nominate a group/individual for a Greenock Telegraph Community Champion Award. Once you have decided on a category from the above list, you will need to fill in our entry form. The form is just a few simple questions to give us an idea of why your nominee deserves to win.

COMMUNITY CHAMPION OF THE YEAR – sponsored by RCH Group

Rewarding a local individual or group aged 18 and over who go out of their way to help those around them, whose actions are a force for good in making the community a better place.

SENIOR COMMUNITY CHAMPION

We are looking for a local hero or team from the 60 and over age group who, after many years of hard work, continue to devote much of their time to helping other individuals or groups in their community. We want to hear about and reward the work of those special older citizens.

HEALTH AND CARE COMMUNITY CHAMPION OF THE YEAR

This award is about individuals and/or teams working together to deliver improved patient care. They can be from any sector but must demonstrate impact, very strong team working, strong communication, and the ability to work across organisational boundaries.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Everyone remembers their favourite teacher. This award recognises teachers who are bringing learning to life by engaging and inspiring children and young people to fulfil their potential.

SPORTING CHAMPION OF THE YEAR

For a local individual or team that is making an impact in local sport, either on the pitch or off it. Who is the beating heart of local sport?

LIVE MUSIC AWARD

This award will go to a local singer, musician or group who puts their heart and soul into every performance, whose talent makes us all extremely proud. Our finalists will have the opportunity to perform live at the awards gala.

BUSINESS CHAMPION OF THE YEAR

This award is to recognise a business that has bolstered the community with its outstanding success in the past year. Judges will be looking for businesses that can demonstrate innovative projects, impressive results and a focus on employee and/or community engagement.

CHARITY CHAMPION OF THE YEAR – sponsored by Arnold Clark

When it comes to charity, Inverclyde is as big-hearted as you can get. This award is for an individual or group, who have dedicated their lives to supporting an amazing cause. A chance to recognise the incredible work they undertake tirelessly.

HEART OF GOLD

This award goes an individual who has made a contribution of outstanding significance to Greenock and/or the wider Inverclyde area. We will be recognising someone whose actions, achievements, courage or bravery has touched the lives of others and made a difference. We are looking for someone with a true heart of gold.

LITTLE CHAMPION OF THE YEAR

To recognise an outstanding child up to and including age 12 whose achievements, courage or bravery make our hearts burst with pride.

YOUTH COMMUNITY CHAMPION – sponsored by Clyde Eats

We are looking for a group of young people or an individual between the ages of 13 and 18 years old who makes a significant contribution to their local community. They may have fundraised, campaigned on issues which are important to young people or helped others less fortunate. We know kids sometimes get a bad reputation. Tell us now about the kids whose heart is in the right place.

You must complete our entry form to submit a nomination. Head to the ‘How to Enter’ section above for instructions or click ‘Enter Now’.

What is the deadline for entries?

The entry deadline is Friday, April 5

How much does it cost?

It is free to enter the awards and all finalists will receive one free ticket to attend the ceremony (or two free tickets if aged under 16).

Additional tickets to the ceremony are priced at £56 for adults and £28 for under 16’s.

When will the winners be announced?

The winners will be announced at our glittering awards ceremony on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Greenock Town Hall. More information on the event and tickets can be found in the ‘The Awards Ceremony’ section above.
