The Future of Leadership:

Performance Follows Culture

Performance is no longer judged simply on what you do, it’s also about how you do it. At an organisational level that involves getting the right leadership, culture, values and governance in place to create an innovative high-performing organisation. And while it’s easy to say that having the right culture, values and strategy is important, it’s not as easy to achieve, or understand how to get there.
The Herald and CMS held their business breakfast which explored The Future of Leadership.

At CMS, our aim is to be the lawyers our clients really want us to be. Not pedantic pointpickers, but a can-do law firm, packed with people who provide accurate, pragmatic and commercially relevant advice. We think legal excellence, market knowledge, corporate insight, client service and good judgment are all parts of the same package. We don’t distinguish between ‘legal points’ and ‘commercial points. If an issue is relevant to you, then we will understand it and help you resolve it.

The depth and breadth of our specialist teams is second to none. We’ve organised ourselves around the key sectors of the twenty-first century economy and pride ourselves on understanding our clients’ businesses and markets. As well as fielding top-class sector experts in Scotland, we offer our clients full access to the outstanding professionals we have in London and elsewhere. So, on UK-wide matters, or when your business goes abroad, we can go on working right at your side.

In an era of uncertainty and disruption, we’re committed to developing and evolving along with our clients, helping them succeed by adapting to change and seizing new opportunities. That’s why we’re investing in innovative technology to enhance our client services, as well as new business systems and processes, such as our Legal Services Unit in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Event

All organisations need effective leadership and governance. In recent years various layers have been added to the corporate governance rules for certain private and public companies to broaden their remit. New rules are going to require companies to engage with their stakeholders, including their workforce and shareholders on a variety of issues such as executive remuneration.
We all know that getting the culture right is essential to producing a thriving organisation, where challenges are welcomed, and no one is untouchable.
In this Breakfast Briefing we were joined by experts to share their insights and discuss how to enhance culture by embracing corporate governance, and to use the move towards workforce engagement and transparency measures as a means of enhancing performance, innovation, diversity and inclusion and a company’s ability to adapt.
The aim of the event was to draw together the themes of change we were seeing in governance, accountability and transparency and how this will make a positive difference in our attendee’s organisations.
The business breakfast will provide delegates with the opportunity to network, learn, question and hear from our keynote speaker and panel.
