Is entry free?

Yes. Entry to the Built for Service Awards 2026 is free.

When is the entry deadline?

Completed entries must be submitted by Friday, 21 August 2026.

When will the shortlist be announced?

The shortlist is expected to be announced in September 2026.

When is the awards ceremony?

The awards ceremony is planned for Thursday, 5 November 2026.

Who can enter?

Entries are welcomed from organisations, teams and partners involved in property management, facilities management, building operations, occupier experience, resident service, operational sustainability, PropTech, specialist supply and post-occupation estate performance in Scotland.

Are estate agents or letting agents eligible?

No. Estate agency and lettings are not in scope for the Built for Service Awards. There are current categories with our The Herald Property Awards for Scotland that are open to these types of companies. The awards focus on property management, facilities management and building operations once buildings are occupied.

Are development, design or construction projects eligible?

No. The Built for Service Awards are not development or design awards. The programme recognises how buildings are managed, maintained and operated after occupation.

Can suppliers enter?

Yes. Suppliers and partners who support property management, FM or building operations teams in Scotland can enter, particularly in the Supplier / Partner of the Year, Innovation in Property Operations, Sustainability in Operations or relevant team categories.

Can we enter more than one category?

Yes. Organisations may enter more than one category where the entry is relevant and tailored to the category criteria. A separate submission should be completed for each category entered.

What should the written entry include?

The main written entry should explain what has been achieved, how it was delivered and what measurable impact it has had. Entries should be structured around customer experience, operational excellence, innovation, impact and results, and people and leadership.

What evidence is required?

All entries must include performance metrics, at least one independent testimonial and supporting evidence. Relevant evidence may include service performance data, customer satisfaction scores, resident or occupier feedback, compliance information, ESG reports, KPI dashboards, case studies, photographs or client statements.

What metrics should we include?

Metrics should be relevant to the category. Examples include satisfaction scores, complaint trends, response times, SLA performance, compliance results, retention rates, occupancy, arrears, voids, energy reductions, carbon savings, waste diversion, engagement levels or cost efficiencies.

Are testimonials required?

Yes. Each entry must include at least one independent testimonial from a client, resident, occupier, customer, supplier partner, senior stakeholder or other credible third party who can support the claims made in the entry.

What happens if we are shortlisted?

Shortlisted entrants will be invited to take part in a remote video interview with the judging panel. Interviews are expected to last approximately 20–30 minutes. The interview forms part of the final judging process.

Will the judges give feedback?

The awards process is designed to support transparency. Entrants may receive feedback following the judging process where available.

Can confidential information be included?

Yes, but confidential information should be clearly marked. It will be used for judging purposes only and will not be published without permission.

Can we recommend another company or supplier?

Yes. You can recommend a supplier, company, partner or team that you believe deserves recognition. The awards team may contact suitable recommended organisations and invite them to enter.

Who should I contact if I am unsure which category to enter?

Please contact the awards team and they will help guide you towards the most relevant category.
