Dunfermline: TwinsTown win this year’s Live Music Award

It’s safe to assume that celebrations went long into the early hours after Dunfermline’s TwinsTown won this year’s Live Music Award.

The group were handed the accolade by police officer Fraser Simpson during Thursday’s ceremony at the city’s Glen Pavilion.

A constant presence in the local music scene, brothers Donald and Stuart Mackay can be found either tearing up the city’s stages, or blethering outside pubs on the Kirkgate.

The recent album Brankholm Brae gave a nod to the indie-pop group’s Rosyth roots, and attendees at the Community Champion Awards had a taste of their tunes when the band performed over dinner.

Speaking on behalf of the group, member Ben Sharp said: “It feels great. I met these guys ten years ago by chance.

“I thought ‘wow, these guys are amazing.’ Then I grew a bit older and wiser, and thought ‘wow these guys really annoy me.’

“Every time I see them they make me smile, they’ve got great tunes, a great attitude, and they’re so passionate about their music.

“Everybody knows the Mackay twins.”
