A young and inspiring Dunfermline athlete was commended at this year’s Community Champion Awards after winning London Mini-Marathon glory.
Niamh Currie, 14, spoke about her Paralympic dreams with the goal of racing in the Los Angeles games in 2028.
She was commended in the sporting champion category after triumphing at the Women’s Wheelchair under-17s race in London, finishing the 2.6km course in just nine minutes and 59 seconds.
It was a comfortable win, almost two minutes ahead of her closest competitor.
April’s event marked her first time competing in the higher age category, after claiming top spot in the under-14s female category for the previous three years.

She told a packed-out Glen Pavilion of her future ambitions, including plans to compete at the Commonwealth Games and Paralympics.
Niamh is a member of Disability Sport Fife (DSF) and is supported by “fantastic” coach Pamela Robson.
It’s been a busy time for the young racer, who has recently competed in Poland.
Other events have included the Stoke Mandeville series, the UK School Games and several local and national competitions representing DSF.
