Shortlist announced for hair and beauty awards

A total of 147 entries were received for the inaugural year of The Look Awards, supported by Defecto Salons, City of Glasgow College, Colours Agency, Habia and Salon Geek.

The judges were on the lookout for the top hair and makeup artists, salons, spas and clinics and selected finalists across 18 categories. The quality of entries was outstanding and the judges were overwhelmed with the number of entries displaying innovative work and creative business models.

For the Defacto Salon of the year category for both the hair and beauty section, Marcus Macleod, director of Defacto said: “We would like to thank all entrants and wish luck to all the finalists in their quest to become Salon of the Year 2015.”

The Best Start up category pays tribute to all the new businesses in their first two years or less, and is sponsored by City of Glasgow College. Shona Martin, curriculum head-hairdressing said: “It is great to see hard work and dedication within the professions being encouraged and recognised. Good luck to all the finalists.”

The winners of each category will be announced on Sunday May 17. Tickets for the event are priced at £80 which includes a champagne drinks reception, goody bag, two course dinner, entertainment and the highly anticipated awards ceremony.

Hosted by Clyde 1’s Knoxy, the event will take place at Radisson Blu, Glasgow and promises to be as stylish as the guests attending.
