Best of Scotland’s hair and beauty industry honoured at The Look awards
Hosted by Knoxy from Clyde 1, guests from across Scotland partied in style at The Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow.
The event kicked off with a champagne reception and exhibitor experience, which saw HD Brows and Rainbow Room International offering demonstrations and live styling. Professional Beauty Systems sponsored the goody bags with gifts from Osmo hair products and Tantruth.
Winners collected awards across 21 categories including the Outstanding Achievement award, which went to West College Scotland, for itsAthletes’ Salon project during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Rainbow Room International, George Square, scooped two awards for Defacto Hair salon of the Year (large), and also for the Hair Stylist of the Year award, which went to Dylan Brittain.
BLOW in Finnieston was also double winners on the night, collecting both the Defacto Hair Salon of the Year (small) and Best Use of Social Media.
Defactosalons.com sponsored the salon categories in both the hair and beauty sectors, and was also a winner on the night.
It picked up the award for Innovation in Technology and director, Marcus Macleod said: “What a fantastic evening. We are so pleased and proud to see the great and good of the Scottish hair and beauty scene under one roof.
“Congratulations to all the winners and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year.”
The Best Barbers category award went to Rebel Rebel, with a commendation being awarded to Ruffians in Edinburgh.
The Guerlain Spa at Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian, scooped the award for Best Spa whilst the Expert Make-up Artist of the Year award went to Sara Hill.
New businesses were also recognised on the night with the Best Start Up award, which was sponsored by City of Glasgow College. DIY Nails picked up the accolade for 2015, for its successful business launch.
Elspeth McCallum, Industry Academy Head, Leisure and Lifestyle Faculty, City of Glasgow College said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed participating in The Look Awards this year. It has been a fantastic opportunity to highlight the incredible talent that works in this industry.
“We would particularly like to congratulate the winner of the Best Start Up award, DIY Nails, and hope that it continues to have success in what we believe will be an extremely fruitful career.”
The Aesthetics categories were presented by Victoria Dobbie, director and founder of Face and Body Cosmetics, who was also a member of the judging panel. Best Cosmetic Dentist went to Visage Cosmetic Dentistry and Innocent Aesthetics was crowned Cosmetic Clinic of the Year.
The judges also awarded a special award for their “One To Watch” category, which recognises a rising star in the industry. For 2015 this went to newly opened Glasgow business, House Martin Barbers.
The event was supported by Defactosalons.com, City of Glasgow College, Habia, Salon Geek, Colours Agency, Professional Beauty Systems, Rainbow Room International and HD Brows and the guest speaker for the evening was Adam Sloan, CEO of Men’s Hairdressing Federation and also a member of the judging panel.
