FAQ
Who can enter?
The awards are open to all companies building and developing in Scotland. Properties or development phases entered in any category should have been completed between June 2018 and June 2019. If you are submitting a development, the first phase must have been completed between these dates.
Properties in the Best Show Home category must still be functioning show homes when judges conduct their site visits in July/August 2019.
Why should I enter?
Being shortlisted for an award (or better yet, winning one) would position your business as outstanding in the industry. It allows you to share your successes, best practice and imaginative thinking with your peers. Your business would also be profiled in The Herald.
How do I enter?
You must complete our valid entry form to submit a nomination in your chosen category. Head to the ‘How to Enter’ section above for instructions.
Can I enter more than one category?
You can submit as many nominations as you like across the different categories. The categories and the criteria for each can be found in the ‘Categories’ section above.
What is the deadline for entries?
Entries are now closed for 2019. If you would like to enquire about entering please contact nina.holmes@newsquest.co.uk
How much does it cost?
The entry fee is £80 + VAT (£96) per entry. A cheque to cover the cost of your entry (ies) made payable to: Newsquest (Herald and Times) Ltd must be included with your entry (ies). We can also accept payment by credit or debit card over the phone by calling 0141 302 6036 prior to the deadline.
Tickets to attend the ceremony are £120 + VAT. Tables of ten are available at £1,200 + VAT and tables of twelve available at £1,400 + VAT
What happens next once I’ve entered?
Once you have submitted an entry, we will add your entry and any supporting material to the judging pack for consideration. Once the judging process has taken place, we will contact you to let you know whether you have been successful in making the shortlist or not.
How does the judging process work?
Two judges will be allocated to every property for site visits and will contact you directly so please ensure you provide the correct contact details of the person who they can arrange this.
Judges reserve the right to transfer entries that are deemed eligible or more relevant to other categories. The judging process will involve site visits to properties and developments. The judges’ decision will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into or feedback provided.
What follows is designed to help both those who have supported the awards with entries in the past and those who are new to the process. It is hoped that this will help every entry have the best chance of being fully considered. It is distilled from many years’ experience.
Carefully consider which category criteria your project/entry best fits into. Remember that Judges reserve the right to move entries into another category if appropriate
Carefully read the criteria and clearly address these
Make sure anything included is relevant and focussed. Avoid cutting and pasting material used for other purposes unless it is completely relevant
Make sure you have included key information such as dates
Carefully consider which photographs best illustrate the points you wish to emphasise
Use CGI only when photographs are not available and make sure any such images are truly representative
Remember judges need to visit entries (except teams) so please ensure that access is available and clear travel directions are given
When will the shortlist be announced?
The shortlist will be listed in The Herald and on this website by the end of August 2019.
When will the winners be announced?
The winners will be announced at our glittering awards ceremony on Thursday, September 26 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow. More information on the event and tickets can be found in the event section above.
What do I do if I have more questions?
We are happy to answer any additional questions you may have regarding the entry process or event. Please contact Senior Events Manager, Nina Holmes on 0141 302 6036 or nina.holmes@newsquest.co.uk with all enquires.
