THE Press is set to honour West Fife’s unsung heroes with our annual Community Champions Awards tomorrow (Friday) night.

The fifth annual ceremony, being held in the Glen Pavilion, celebrates all the positives in our community and recognises the achievements and tireless endeavours undertaken every day by amazing individuals in West Fife.

For one night, our champions from sport, business, charity, music, schools and everyday life will swap their cause for the limelight of the stage and deservedly take the plaudits for their achievements from those they have helped and benefited the most – their local community.

The evening includes a sparkling drinks reception, three-course meal, entertainment from local talent and live music and the awards presentation.

At this year’s event, we will be welcoming new host David Farrell, one of Scotland’s best-loved presenters who has a wealth of live broadcast and event experience.

Following on from an impressive 10-year career in radio as Romeo, and host of STV’s Live at Five – which won an RTS Scotland Award of Best Daytime Programme – David is currently entertainment reporter at BBC Scotland for The Nine and The Edit.

The awards finalists were chosen by our judging panel of Press editor Simon Harris; Gillian Taylor, Fife Council’s community manager, City of Dunfermline; Suzy Lynch, PR and marketing executive for Canvas Holidays; Graham Allison, site leader at Amazon Dunfermline Fulfilment Centre; and Cat Cockburn, of Fife Voluntary Action.

Simon commented: “From the judging panel I know we’re going to be in for an inspirational and very moving night. We are going to hear stories of kindness, courage, achievement and generosity that, above all, will make everyone leaving at the end of the night feel positive and proud to be from West Fife.”
