WE have officially launched the 2018 North Ayrshire Community Sports Awards and we don’t want you to waste any time in getting your entries put forward.

The North Ayrshire Community Sports Awards recognises, celebrates and honours the extraordinary achievements of local
people who use the power of sport to make a positive impact within their community.

Since their inception in 2015, the awards have gained the respect and support of the sporting community and local community because of our thorough judging process and high calibre awards evening, celebrating the winners and nominees in a range of award categories. Our Ambassador awards highlight
the importance of people on the ground, encouraging others to get involved.

Last year Kirsty Cameron of Skate2Success was named Sports Ambassador of the Year. A former international athlete, she has competed in shows across Europe and teaches Skate2Success at Auchenharvie at least five days a week, rising as early as 4am (Her alarm was set for 3.55am for the next morning after the sports awards!)

Kirsty said: “I am absolutely thrilled. At last year’s awards, one of my students was nominated for young sports personality of the year, and he was hearing impaired, so it was fantastic to be nominated as coach, and also to have our students recognised.”

Our Young Ambassador was Jenna Clark of Irvine Takeda Club. She was left speechless after winning the award. She has been training at the Irvine Takeda Club since the age of four and is currently a black belt in the sport. She is also reigning British Champion for Team Kumite and has many other titles under her belt, using the nurturing excellence programme as a way of developing her potential in the sport.

All this was despite the fact that Jenna was diagnosed with Scolosis, a progressive curve in her spine. She said: “My inspiration has always been to work hard and do my best.”
