Cat’s Eyes on Glasgow: The Look Awards

The event was hosted by Knoxy from Clyde, who is my hair idol: that girl got coif! There was a fancy champagne reception and goody bags full of treats from the sponsors, HD Brows, Osmo Hair Care and Tantruth. There was also great food and music, I was introduced to a great new singer/songwriter from Paisley called John Rush – worth checking out on Soundcloud.

What you lot probably want to know, though (rather than how good the food was) is where you should go for your next ‘do’. The big winners on the night included Blow (in Finnieston), who scooped two awards – Small Hair Salon of the Year and Best Use of Social Media – they’re high on my list of places to try in the next wee while. Plus, Glasgow innovator The Rainbow Rooms, who were also double winners on the night, taking both Best Hair Stylist and Large Salon of the Year.

Of course, it’s not just about the ladies (occasionally!) and lads, I’m sure you want to know where to get your short, backs and sides, waxed, plucked and shaved too. A big part of the night was singing the praises of the growing barber scene in Scotland. Rebel Rebel took the top prize, but there was also commendation for Ruffians (from Edinburgh) and House Martins Barbers on Bath Street is the one to watch. So, now you know where to get The Look… no more bad hair days Glasgow!
