A CALL has gone out for submissions to The Herald Scottish Culture Awards as the deadline for entries gets closer.

The awardsHerald Scottish Culture Awards, which are sponsored by Edinburgh Napier University and EventScotland, part of VisitScotland Events Directorate, aim to celebrate and reward all genres of culture within the creative industries.

With the deadline fast approaching on Friday, May 17, The Herald is encouraging those who contribute to Scotland’s thriving and ever-growing cultural landscape to get in touch and complete their free submission. There are 14 awards up for grabs.

These include Outstanding Dramatic Performance and Outstanding Contribution to Scottish Comedy.

Dean of Arts and Creative Industries at Edinburgh Napier University, Pauline Miller Judd, said the awards would be about paying tribute to those who have devoted their careers to enriching Scotland’s cultural life.

The awards, she said, would also be about marking the quality and range of an individual’s work and its impact on the nation’s arts scene.

She said: “Edinburgh Napier are delighted to be sponsoring the Lifetime Achievement Award again at the Herald Culture Awards.

“This is a great opportunity to recognise an individual for the quality and range of work they have achieved across their career.”

So, who will be rewarded this year? All entries will be judged by our panel of industry experts who include writer and broadcaster Stuart Cosgrove and Ruth Wishart, the journalist and broadcaster who chairs the Dewar Arts awards.

Also part of the judging panel are Pauline Miller Judd, Dean of Arts & Creative Industries at Edinburgh Napier University, and Rhona Corscadden, who is Senior Event Manager at EventScotland.

The awards will be chaired by Donald Martin, Editor-in-Chief at The Herald.

Those who wish to enter are asked to visit https://newsquestscotlandevents.com/events/cultureawards.

Organisers have said that all applications must be submitted by 6pm on Friday, May 17, to qualify for the competition.
